Based in Dalby, our client is a diversified agricultural enterprise with their core business focused on cattle feedlots. They have been in operation for over 50 years and have gone through significant expansion where they are now a major supplier of grain fed cattle to the region’s processing facilities. Due to this growth, they are now looking to appoint a Financial Controller to oversee all aspects of their financial management. Reporting directly to the owners of the business, your main duties will be:
- Managing cash flow and preparing budgets;
- Completing monthly business activity statements;
- Generating financial reports for banks and management;
- Processing and managing accounts payable and receivable;
- Conducting daily reconciliations;
- Maintaining the asset register and calculating depreciation on equipment; and
- Processing fortnightly payroll.
This is a unique opportunity to be a “full function” Financial Controller, completing all tasks from data entry through to providing financial guidance and leadership to the Directors. There is limited administrative support available and as such you must be comfortable completing all tasks as required in the office.
Our client is also seeking an individual who has a good understanding of the cattle industry or is willing to learn. Ideally, this individual will keep abreast of not only the company’s financials but also external factors such as cattle prices and where appropriate, provide advice to the Directors regarding ongoing profitability and business growth.
To be successful, you will demonstrate a knowledge of financial principles and preferably have a background in the agricultural industry. A tertiary degree is not essential as applicants will be primarily assessed on their work experience and competencies. Candidates must live in the Western Downs area or be willing to relocate.
