What motivates your staff?

People spend a lot of time wondering what it is that motivates their staff and colleagues. It can be quite simple to find out: just ask them.

This can be done in a number of ways:

  • At performance reviews;
  • In a one-off meeting; or
  • A structured identifiable survey of your team or an anonymous survey.

Either way you do it, it’s worth doing, especially at the start of the year. Your staff want to be involved, engaged and making a difference. Are they? Could you be tweaking their working environment to get a better result for the both of you? Often employers are under the impression that money is the prime motivator. In actual fact, our staff surveys have repeatedly found that your high performing employees commonly rate flexibility, job security and challenging and meaningful work ahead of money. So don’t be afraid to ask your team what motivates them. You’ll probably find you’re all going in the same direction and your communication will be enhanced.

Don’t hesitate to contact us for more information on how to conduct a staff survey that will help you retain and enhance your team.
