As the year draws to a close, we at JP Smith have taken stock of our recruitment projects this year, and looked at the spread of occupations and industries. Top 5 Occupations

  1. Administrator – 29%
  2. Accountant/Bookkeeper – 20%
  3. Salesperson – 19%
  4. Engineer (Design, Project Delivery) – 9%
  5. IT Officer (Levels 2 and 3) – 7%
  6. Other (incl. nursing, management, legal etc) – 16%

Top 5 Industries

  1. Professional Services (incl. engineering consultancies, legal firms, public practice accounting etc) – 26%
  2. Automotive – 14%
  3. Agriculture – 13%

Given that we pride ourselves on Professional Services positions such as Engineer, Accountant, Lawyer and IT Officer to be our “bread and butter”, those industries comprising 26% is no surprise. Administrators, Bookkeepers and Accountants are often our most sought after candidates, and 2019 appears to be no exception.
