VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE

ARE YOU UNSURE OF YOUR NEXT CAREER MOVE? LET US TAKE THE GUESS WORK OUT OF IT FOR YOU…

At JP Smith Recruitment & HR we understand the need for change, progression and personal development, which is why we offer our premier Vocational Guidance Service to those who are searching for their ideal career. After all, who wants to spend all week counting down the days until the weekend? Life certainly is too short to stay in a job you dislike!

“VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE IS IDEAL FOR THOSE WHO ARE FEELING LOST IN THE EVERYDAY NUANCES OF THEIR CURRENT PROFESSION. IT PROVIDES A PLAN, REGARDING YOUR NEXT MOVE IN LIFE”

We work with you to help you understand your strengths and interests; this consequently guides you toward a career direction that you’re passionate about.

WHAT IT INVOLVES

Our Vocational and Employment Testing packages are tailored to each individual’s needs and will give you detailed information about where your natural abilities lie.

The first step in the process is to schedule an initial consultation with our in-house Psychologist, in order to ascertain what exactly you are hoping to achieve from your Vocational Guidance sessions.

After the initial briefing, most people will decide to proceed with the Strong Interest Inventory®, a career planning tool used globally to help people understand their strengths and explore options for career development and progression. For over 85 years, the Strong Interest Inventory® instrument has provided time-tested, research validated insights to help individuals in their search for a rich, fulfilling career, by eliminating guesswork and making informed decisions about their future. At the end of the testing, you will go away with a comprehensive report detailing the most suitable jobs for you, based on your interests and personal strengths. Furthermore, due to a quickly developing job landscape, the test is constantly being updated as new jobs are created and technology advances, in order to keep you at the forefront of market opportunities.

If you do not decide to proceed with the Strong Interest Inventory®, our Vocational Psychologist will still provide significant advice as to potential paths you could explore in order to develop your career and professional skills.

In line with vocational and employment testing, we are also able to assist with resume and cover letter development. We will review your current resume and suggest changes for improvement, or if needed, build you a new resume from scratch. Likewise, we will review the types of cover letters you have been using and give you tools and techniques to improve your chances of securing job interviews with prospective employers.

WHO IT’S FOR

As this is a specialist service, it is important to know who will benefit the most from this exercise. Our Vocational Guidance programs can assist:

  • Students - who need help choosing their career, courses and subjects;
  • Graduates - who are looking for guidance and advice as to how to utilise their degrees;
  • Seasoned Workers - who are considering a change of career;
  • Scholars - who are considering further study and require help choosing the right path; and
  • Professionals - who are interested in seeing if they are currently in the ‘right’ career.

“WHAT’S BETTER THAN FINDING OUT WHAT YOU LIKE DOING BEST? FINDING OUT HOW TO GET PAID TO DO IT OF COURSE”

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The initial meeting with our Psychologist will take approximately an hour and will cost $365 + GST, if after this session you opt not to move forward with a Vocational Guidance plan, you can walk away, no questions asked. If however, you do decide to pursue your options and move forward to the next phase, an hourly fee will be charged and our Cancellation Policy will apply. Please note there is a flat fee to complete the Strong Interest Inventory and/or resume building services.
