Job Maker

At the federal budget on Tuesday, the 6th of October, Josh Frydenberg, the Federal Treasurer, announced a number of changes that will affect the social and economic landscape of our nation, for years to come. One of those matters will be of particular interest to employers and it is called “Job Maker”.

Job Maker has still yet to be passed by the parliament, but on the assumption that it goes through, it will provide, what most would see, as a significant cash flow boost with their staffing wages. Preliminary information would suggest that those employers who hire people between 16 and 35 years of age who have qualified for some sort of job seeker benefit, will gain up to $200 credit per week as part of their weekly salary. This is a healthy contribution towards someones salary and will assist employers of all manners and all walks of life to think carefully about recruiting and hiring again during this period.  As always, the devil will be in the detail and we will be keeping a close eye on it.
