Predict Candidate Suitability with Full Psychological Profiling

If you're not doing psychological profiling of your new recruits, you should. The testing that's out there at the moment is extensive and depending on what you're looking at, pretty easy to implement. It can give you such a wealth of information. There's even one tool that is a reliable predictor of absenteeism.  We obviously provide this and have done so since 2004 but there's plenty of other tools out there that you might want to use yourself. Remember to buy your testing off a reliable psych testing or educational testing publication house. There are plenty of online tools out there that just aren't reliable and valid. But the ones that are, will give you a distinct advantage with your decision-making.  The other thing to think about is not just doing personality profiling only. That's the most popular one of course, but you really should be looking at cognitive ability testing too. To use a crude analogy, it would be a bit like buying a really nicely appointed vehicle with a swish interior etc., but if you haven't got the right engine, you're not going to get too far.  There's a little bit of information below about our testing if you're interested.

At JP Smith Recruitment and HR, we offer a comprehensive Psychological Profile that gives you an understanding of the candidate’s personality traits, cognitive ability as well as their attentiveness to detail. The package includes the following tests:

  1. NEO PI-R Personality Test - This will give you an understanding of the candidate’s personality traits. It also provides an insight into the candidate’s strengths and areas of improvement and how they would play out in the work context.
  2. WASI (Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence) – This test provides an assessment of the candidate’s general intellectual ability. It helps to provide information about how quickly a candidate learns during training, their communication and comprehension and predicts how well they will perform in their role.
  3. Speed and Accuracy test – This is used to assess aptitude for accuracy in day to day work and to measure the candidate’s attention to detail.

The tests will be conducted and interpreted by a qualified Psychologist. You will then be provided with a written report that you can use as a guide to determine the candidate’s suitability for the role and the organisation. It can also be used as an effective management tool!
